Josh Norris Injury Update of the Ottawa Senators

Latest Senators Rumours: Norris Healthy Again, Anderson To Retire With Ottawa, And More

The hockey season is approaching quickly as we are only 47 days away from Senators hockey. As the offseason closes, rumours and news around the Sens team continue to come forward. In this article, I will discuss the latest Senators rumours and news. From Norris’s health to rumours surrounding Craig Anderson, everything will be discussed here!

Josh Norris Back In A Normal Practice Jersey

Take a deep breath of relief Sens fans, Josh Norris is back practicing with the team in a full participation jersey. Earlier in the week, photos were taken of the Senators on-ice training sessions with Josh Norris participating in a yellow jersey. For those who don’t know, a yellow jersey is known as a non-contact jersey and is used for players returning from injury who the training staff would like to be cautious with.

But fear not, yesterday Josh Norris was spotted in a white jersey, signifying himself as a full participant in training. While some fans may still have reservations about Norris’s health, it is okay to be cautiously optimistic going into the season.

The situation is eerily similar to what Shane Pinto experienced, and he just played in all 82 games this season. As some people may know, I am expecting a big year from Norris. Check out this article if you would like to read more about my thoughts.

Jakob Chychrun Promotes Mental Health Initiatives

After being traded to the Ottawa Senators at this past season’s trade deadline, Chychrun has wasted no time involving himself in the community. Jakob Chychrun has partnered with the Rideau Carleton Casino/Hard Rock group as one of their community ambassadors. His new role with the group will be to promote mental health initiatives across the Ottawa Senators region. As Chychrun discussed with Postmedia, this is an initiative that is “close to his heart”:

“Daron was my cousin and Luke Richardson (head coach of Chicago) is my uncle,” Chychrun said. “They’ve done such a great job with that foundation by taking what was a tragedy and trying to turn it into a positive” Bruce Garrioch, Ottawa Sun

Some fans may remember the “Do It For Daron” (DIFD) foundation, which was created after Daron Richardson took her own life. If you would like to read more about the foundation, you can do so here.

Chychrun generously presented a $10,000 cheque to the Alzheimer’s Society, kickstarting his community contributions. As I am sure all Sens fans will agree, the organization gained an elite hockey player and an even better person.

Craig Anderson Rumoured To Sign 1 Day Contract With Senators

Craig Anderson holds a soft spot in the hearts of Ottawa Senators fans after an incredible tenure with the team. The final game of Anderson’s career came on April 13th against the Ottawa Senator’s where the Buffalo Sabres won 3-2 in overtime. An emotional congratulations took place after the Sabres win, with both teams knowing it was Anderson’s final game in the league. But, it may not have been his final moment as a member of the NHL. It has been heavily rumoured that Anderson will be signing a 1-day contract with Ottawa to rightfully retire a Senator.

The following photo was uploaded to the Napolis Stittsville restaurant’s Instagram account along with photos of Craig Anderson. While there has not yet been an official announcement by the Ottawa Senators organization, it seems to be all but certain that Craig Anderson will retire with the team. Anderson deserves to be honoured in front of Sens fans one last time, and he will most definitely receive a warm welcome when that time comes.

Daniel Alfredsson Rumoured To Return To The Organization

Craig Anderson isn’t the only member of Senators alumni who could return to the team. Daniel Alfredsson has been linked to the Ottawa Senators for a long while, and it seems like he may finally be taking a role with the organization. With the sale of the Ottawa Senators expected to finalize this September, a return for Alfie could follow shortly after.

It has been reported that discussions regarding a return to the team between Senators owner Michael Andlauer and Daniel Alfredsson have taken place. As it stands now, Andlauer cannot make organizational decisions until after the sale process is complete. But once this is over, Alfredsson will likely be back in the mix with the Sens.

As for a role, Alfredsson will most likely help with player development alongside fellow Sens alumni Shean Donovan, Wade Redden, and Jesse Winchester. Having Alfredsson’s experience available to the players will be incredibly beneficial to the Senators team. While it would be cool to see Alfredsson in a higher role, it will be exciting nonetheless if and/or when he comes back to the Sens.
